Our nationally renowned club is one the largest and most successful youth track clubs in the United States

History

The Charlotte Heat Track Club (CHTC) was conceived and first organized by head track coach William Bullard, in 2005. He had a vision of creating a track club that both parents and athletes would be proud to be a part of. The CHTC operates solely on volunteers. All coaches, parents, and administrative staff offer their time and expertise in bringing Coach Will’s vision to fruition.  The CHTC is a non-profit; youth track and field club that strives to motivate youth ages 5-18 of Charlotte and surrounding areas, to achieve leadership, self-discipline, sportsmanship, integrity, and a sense of community in a nonviolent, drug-free atmosphere. Word quickly spread that the Charlotte Heat Track Club was “the” place to train, and the club rapidly grew in both quantity and quality.

In our first season, the Charlotte Heat Track Club won 2 National titles and had 17 National All-Americans. The tone and the standard were set from season one, which is still carried out today. We are a Top 10 Nationally Ranked Track Organization and well respected throughout the United States.

We also host our annual “Bring the Heat Invitational”, which began in 2005. The track meet draws in over 1,500+ athletes annually from 20+ different states. There have been numerous Professional Athletes, NCAA Indoor & Outdoor All-Americans, World Athletics U20 Champions, USATF U20 Outdoor Champions, AAU & USATF National Champions, Indoor & Outdoor High School National Champions, and World Record Holders that have competed, in our track meet over the yearsThe Bring the Heat Invitational is recognized as “One of the Toughest Youth Track Meets in the Country” and we are extremely proud of the alumni who have laid the foundation and rich history of our event.

Program Description

Our Program offers athletes a dynamic balance through team/individual elements of track and field as a medium to strengthen work ethics and foster self-esteem. Charlotte Heat does not host tryouts to join. Track is not just about running and athletic conditioning; moreover, it is a training ground for our next generation of productive citizens.

Pre-Season Heat Conditioning (January-March)

Practice: Sundays Only / 2:00 – 4:30 PM for 10 weeks

We offer a free, Pre-Season Conditioning Program that will focus on four primary areas which need to be developed for any athlete. The lower body, the hip flexors, the abdomen, and the upper body. The training typically consists of a warm-up, accelerations/power development, speed workouts, and conditioning. The workouts give you some insight into what we do at our club team practices

Spring-Summer Season (March-August)

Practice: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday / 6:30 – 8:30 PM

The outdoor season is the core of the training process because it is when all of the competitions will be offered. We also use the outdoor season as a tool to help coaches monitor athletes’ academic and social progress during the school year, follow up on tutoring needs, and keep parents in sync with upcoming community service projects.

Academic Requirements

As athletes develop both physically and academically, they are inspired to achieve their personal best, whether that is in the form of college scholarships or Olympic hopefuls. We realize that not all of our athletes will grace the cover of a sports magazine that is why we stress the importance of scholastic achievement through our grade point average guidelines.

All our athletes must maintain at least a C average to participate.

Athletics are important, but reading, writing, and math are a necessity!
