History

About the Charlotte Heat Track Club

The Charlotte Heat Track Club (CHTC) was conceived and organized by Head Track Coach William Bullard in 2005. Coach Bullard’s vision was to create a track club that both athletes and parents would be proud to be part of. Operating entirely on a volunteer basis, the CHTC relies on the dedication and expertise of coaches, parents, and administrative staff to bring Coach Will’s vision to life.

As a non-profit youth track and field club, CHTC is committed to motivating young athletes, ages 5-18, from Charlotte and surrounding areas. We focus on fostering leadership, self-discipline, sportsmanship, integrity, and a sense of community in a supportive, drug-free, and nonviolent environment.

Word quickly spread that the Charlotte Heat Track Club was the premier place to train, leading to rapid growth in both numbers and quality. In our inaugural season, we achieved remarkable success, winning 2 National titles and producing 17 National All-Americans. The standards set in that first season continue to guide us today. We are proud to be a Top 10 Nationally Ranked Track Organization, with a strong reputation across the United States.

Annual Events:

We host the annual “Bring the Heat Invitational,” which began in 2005. This prestigious track meet attracts over 1,500 athletes from more than 20 states each year. Over the years, our meet has featured numerous distinguished competitors, including Professional Athletes, NCAA Indoor & Outdoor All-Americans, World Athletics U20 Champions, USATF U20 Outdoor Champions, AAU & USATF National Champions, Indoor & Outdoor High School National Champions, and World Record Holders. The Bring the Heat Invitational is celebrated as “One of the Toughest Youth Track Meets in the Country,” and we take great pride in the rich history and legacy established by our alumni.

Program Description

The Charlotte Heat Track Club offers a dynamic program that balances team and individual elements of track and field to strengthen work ethic and foster self-esteem. We do not hold tryouts; instead, we welcome all interested athletes. Our focus extends beyond running and athletic conditioning; we aim to develop the next generation of productive citizens.

What We Teach: Our team members learn valuable lessons from competition, both on the field and in life. They develop self-discipline, training, and dedication—skills that carry over into all aspects of their lives.

Pre-Season Heat Conditioning (January-March)

  • Practice: Sundays Only / 2:00 – 4:30 PM for 10 weeks

Our free Pre-Season Conditioning Program targets key areas for athlete development: the lower body, hip flexors, abdomen, and upper body. Training includes warm-ups, accelerations/power development, speed workouts, and conditioning, providing a glimpse into our club team practices. Athletes need to dress for the weather and bring their own water/Gatorade

“NO FEE OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED TO ATTEND”

Spring-Summer Season (March-August)

  • Practice: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday / 6:30 – 8:30 PM

The outdoor season features our competitive track program that includes training and competing in track meets against some of the top athletes in the United States.

Academic Requirements: We believe in the importance of both athletic and academic achievement. All athletes must maintain at least a C average to participate. While not every athlete will make headlines, we emphasize that reading, writing, and math are essential to their overall success.

Athletics are important, but reading, writing, and math are a necessity!
