About

The Charlotte Heat Track Club encourages athletic camaraderie and supports coaching for all athletes. The CHTC acknowledges its duty to serve all athletes throughout the broad spectrum of the runner’s skills and is committed to a total community involvement.

CHTC activities include a summer track program open to all runners, and being commented to performing a community service activity every year. Our program offers athletes a dynamic balance through team/individual elements of track and field as a medium to strengthen work ethics and foster self-esteem. Track is not about just running and athletic conditioning; moreover, it’s a training ground for our next generation of productive citizens.

Team members learn the lessons that competition teaches both on the athletic field and in life. They also learn to combine self-discipline, training, and dedication; lessons that carry over into all aspects of their lives.

The track team is based in Charlotte, NC. However, we have families from surrounding cities like Concord, Huntersville, Waxhaw, Monroe, Pineville, Mooresville, Gastonia, and Rock Hill, SC.

History

The Charlotte Heat Track Club (CHTC) was conceived and first organized by head track coach William Bullard, in 2005. He had a vision of creating a track club that both parents and athletes would be proud to be a part of. The CHTC operates solely on volunteers. All coaches, parents, and administrative staff offer their time and expertise in bringing Coach Will’s vision to fruition.  The CHTC is a non-profit; youth track and field club that strives to motivate youth ages 5-18 of Charlotte and surrounding areas, to achieve leadership, self-discipline, sportsmanship, integrity, and a sense of community in a nonviolent, drug-free atmosphere. Word quickly spread that the Charlotte Heat Track Club was “the” place to train and the club rapidly grew in both quantity and quality.

In our first season, the Charlotte Heat Track Club won 2 National titles and had 17 National All-Americans. The tone and the standard were set from season one, which is still carried out today. We are a Top 10 Nationally ranked organization and well respected throughout the United States.

Program Information

Program Description

Our Program offers athletes a dynamic balance through team/individual elements of track and field as a medium to strengthen work ethics and foster self-esteem. Charlotte Heat does not host tryouts to join. Track is not just about running and athletic conditioning; moreover, it is a training ground for our next generation of productive citizens.

Team members learn the lessons that competition teaches both on the athletic field and in life.  They also learn to combine self-discipline, training, and dedication; lessons that carry over into all aspects of their lives.

Pre-season Heat Conditioning (January-March)

Practice: Sunday’s Only / 2:00 – 4:30 PM for 10 weeks

Pre-Season Conditioning will focus on four primary areas which need to be developed for any athlete. The lower body, the hip flexors, the abdomen, and the upper body. The training typically consists of a warm-up, accelerations/power development, speed workouts, and conditioning. The workouts give you some insight as to what we do at our club team practices

Spring/Summer Season Only (March-August)

Practice: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday / 6:30 – 8:30 PM

The outdoor season is the core of the training process because it is when all of the competitions will be offered. We also use the outdoor season as a tool to help coaches monitor athletes’ academic and social progress during the school year, following up on tutoring needs, and keep parents in sync with upcoming community service projects.

Academic Requirements

As athletes develop both physically and academically, they are inspired to achieve their personal best, whether that is in the form of college scholarships or Olympic hopefuls. We realize that not all of our athletes will grace the cover of a sports magazine that is why we stress the importance of scholastic achievement through our grade point average guidelines.

All of our athletes must maintain at least a C average in order to participate.

Athletics are important, but reading, writing, and math are a necessity!
